A Picture Of Healthy Sleep

Healthy SleepHigh Frequency Coupling (HFC or Stable Sleep) is predominant; Normal HFC values are greater than 50% of the night

Low Frequency Coupling (LFC or Unstable Sleep) is sparse; Normal LFC values are 15-20%; Normal ratio of LFC to HFC is 25%

Healthy Sleep Shows Very Little LFCThe 90° view of the CPC spectrogram shows the distribution of peaks in the LFC frequency range of 0.0 to 140 mHz along the X-axis. Time is displayed along the Y-axis with the start of recording near zero.

Simple evaluation of SDB:

  • Normal sleep is ≥50% HFC
  • Unstable sleep is <50% HFC and an LFC/HFC ratio of >25%
  • OSA has >15% LFC
  • Complex Sleep Apnea has >2% LFC narrow band values
